Spotlight

And here we are -The Iowa Caucus.  While an important event, I think most Iowans, including myself, are ready to move on. I have never been more unimpressed with the so-called candidates - Maybe it's because I'm older and wiser and not easily swayed by looks and sound bytes - Or maybe it's because I am much stronger in my own beliefs compared to my younger self.  While I'm not going to get into politics, this whole presidential race has brought out a whole bunch of hate speak that is really hard to tolerate. It's surprising and disappointing to be honest. All from the people we look to be role models. The only good thing about the caucus is that Iowa is in the spotlight and the world can see what a great place our humble little state really is. And after today, we can all get back to our normal lives.

Well said Kara. We are getting some of this on our news & yep, what a bunch of uninspiring also-rans they are. I loathe how they try to validate themselves by espousing their religious beliefs in an attempt to buy votes. Whatever happened to the separation of Church & State. MOTH made the comment 'That group of Republican candidates are trying to send the U.S. backward in time'. A pretty astute observation for an Aussie bloke with no interest in politics! Happy New Year, may 2012 bring you much happiness & contentment (oh & the Perfect Bloke!!)

Thank you Millie! MOTH hit the nail on the head in my opinion. I really hope for our country's sake we do elect (or re-elect) a candidate that can energize us once again and get the economy back on track.

I wish you the same in the new year - peace and happiness. :)
